The very first step you’ve probably heard about a million times, eating right. Lots of scientists and doctors spent a lot of time and effort putting together the food pyramid. Use it as a food guide. Getting the right amounts of vitamins and nutrients is essential if you want your body to be healthy and resilient to injury and disease. Many foods contain these vitamins and minerals, learn them well.

You will want to stay away from consuming high fructose corn syrup. It is currently being rebranded as corn sugar, so look out for that as well. High fructose corn syrup is added to food as a substitute for refined sugar. Unfortunately, this particular ingredient is not good for your body, especially in mass quantities (which is easy to get since it is included in most foods). High fructose corn syrup can do a number of horrible things to your body, so try to avoid if you can.

Make a priority of finding time to relax each day. This doesn’t have to mean going to sleep (but if you aren’t getting enough sleep at night it can certainly help). This is important time you need in order to de-stress. It could be as simple as spending time watching TV. Or you could go for a walk during this relaxation time. You could take a long hot soak in the tub or read a chapter in a book. Not getting rid of the stress in your life can mean big health problems in the not so distant future.

You can find a lot of different ways to keep healthy. It isn’t all about eating lots of vegetables and running for miles. Being healthy and fit means taking the time to take care of yourself and making smart decisions. A good diet is a good beginning. It means moving around regularly. Make an effort to care for yourself. Once you do, you’ll feel much better.
